When starting a drawing, the first issue is: how am I going to trace my drawing correctly, easy and fast? Everybody has different methods for doing this: transfer paper, grid from photo/print reference, lightbox, real life trace, Photoshop grid, and so on.
Even in the ancient times, artists had their own methods. Artists such as Van Gogh and Da Vinci used the grid, but we attribute the grid to Albrecht Dürer. His magnificent drawings show such realism and the grid was part of that success.(ref)

An year is over, a new one is coming. A lot of things had been changed in my life, and others will change. I have to admit that this year I drew more and I wish that the next year I will draw even more and more and more.. to discover new techniques, new tools and to make as many portraits as possible. You can subscribe and become a member of the community. So you will receive personal advice and be able to see all the video tutorials made especially for the members.
fivepencilmethod.com Darrel Tank offers some advanced drawing techniques (video tutorials) which can be followed even by the beginners. You will be amazed by how easy you can improve your drawing skills.

Browsing through the internet, I found the Laurie Lipton‘s web site. A great graphite artist, one of those artists you fall in love with at first sight of her work.. I was really shocked by the high quality of the drawings, by the techniques, details and imagination. You might also be shocked by the theme of the most drawings, but I found them genial approaches. A perfect Angelina Jolie portrait? No way. A point of view, a conception or a relief of an imaginary world. This is what Laurie’s work is.
